Making Graphics
Design is the first step in making a rug. Our experienced artists develop fresh ideas, paying attention to patterns, sizes, and changes. Next, a very careful copy of the picture is made on graph paper, making sure that every detail is right. An analyst then selects suitable colors using a color code for the layout. This vital step prepares the ground for weaving, which combines skill and imagination to make each rug unique
TRANSLATING TALIM
Perhaps the most fascinating aspect of the rug-making process is translating the design into a language known as TALIM. This unique, age-old language is sent directly to looms, where our craftsmen utilize it to translate the construction of our design and the designated color palette.
SPINNING
Artisans hand-spin wool to weave our rugs. Finely woven carpets have traditionally been constructed using hand-spun wool, which emanates a uniform aura of colors. The rest of our collection, however, infuses the essence of hand-spun wool, exuding an organic, natural texture.
DYEING
After spinning the wool, artisans skillfully prepare it with either vegetable or chromium dyes. They mainly use vegetable dyes to get a natural texture, while chromium dyes help achieve a more uniform and delicate look
WEAVING
An assortment of weaving styles is prevalent. Every forms of weaving have their own traditional subcategories pertaining to either the tribe they belong to or their geographical location
WASHING
Over 30 years, our artists have perfected the art of achieving a vast array of textures. From subdued, matt compositions to lustrous textures, our washing experts have developed and refined the art of washing
